Palmetto Health Richland Cancer Treatment Center
When Palmetto Health, a leading, southeastern 1,138-bed healthcare system, selected McCrory to build a new six-story cancer center, it greatly expanded both the downtown medical center’s Richland campus and the hospital’s ability to provide a complete range of oncology services. McCrory partnered with the hospital and architect for value engineering preconstruction analysis that helped the extensive project stay on budget despite significant adjustments to the original scope.
"I was impressed with the work McCrory performed and appreciated the manner in which they conduct their business."
CEO, Palmetto Health
The cast-in-place cancer treatment center, which included nearly 190,000 square feet of construction over six floors and a partial basement, included chemotherapy and radiation treatment areas, patient rooms and research laboratories. Scope changes were accommodated seamlessly throughout the life of the project. Rigorous preconstruction planning ensured the hospital’s daily operations, patients and staff worked safely and without interruption during the 22-month project.
