Walnut Street Storage

McCrory provided construction services for a new five-story, self-storage facility located in historic Charleston, SC. The facility offers more than 900 storage units of varying sizes and features state-of-the-art humidity and climate control, throughout. Designed to resemble Charleston’s historic Cigar Factory, the 104,000-square-foot building required stringent pre-approval by Charleston’s Board of Architectural Review (BAR). Structurally, the project is designed to meet local hurricane and seismic requirements. Another special requirement: storage units are elevated above the FEMA flood zone due to the project’s location on the Charleston peninsula.

“Walnut is going to be the nicest self-storage building in the Southeast. If we can get that same quality in our apartments and hotels, we’re rocking and rolling.”
