Ekornes, Scandinavian manufacturer of the well-known Stressless® furniture brand, needed to double the size of their existing location in Morganton, to accommodate their continued growth. McCrory was brought on board by Agracel, a repeat client and developer to complete this assignment.

Using the design-build delivery process, McCrory delivered the 100,000-square-foot expansion in eight months, meeting the owner’s requirements without disrupting existing operations. The McCrory team overcame material shortages, inclement weather and a wet site by aggressively and creatively adjusting critical path activities to maintain the overall schedule. One example was pouring the concrete slab on grade before the roof was started. This was due to the roof insulation delivery being three months later than the original date provided by the roofing contractor.
