Publix at 10 WestEdge

This was a 49,000-square-foot Publix in-fill project built in the ground floor of a nine-story apartment tower in Charleston’s upscale WestEdge development.

Project Specifications

  • 49,000-square-foot anchor store for new development located on ground floor of mid-rise residential/mixed-use building
  • Tight jobsite with minimal space for materials storage
  • Coastal location on Charleston peninsula

McCrory provided construction services for this new Publix store that serves as the anchor for WestEdge, an upscale mixed-use development on the Charleston peninsula. The 49,000-square-foot Publix supermarket occupies the ground floor of a nine-story residential building housing approximately 350 apartments.

Beyond the typical challenges associated with coastal locations, project difficulties included a tight jobsite with minimal room for vehicle parking and materials storage all while coordinating with the contractor building the apartments above. McCrory’s retail group once again delivered — adding to a long-standing relationship with Publix dating back to the 1990s.
