JC Penney is one of the nation’s largest apparel and home furnishing retailers. With more than 1,000 stores, JC Penney began working with McCrory in 1980. The partnership, which has resulted in more than 45 builds and renovations, also includes conversions to new retail concepts such as the store-within-a-store Main Street approach.

As part of the Main Street concept’s bold 700-store roll-out, McCrory completed three, 15-store waves of renovations that transformed the traditional department store interiors into highly walkable, modern “Main Streets” containing 100 brand shops. The quick-turn renovations, made possible by effective preconstruction planning, reinvented the in-store experience while giving customers continuous access to the store and merchandise.
